The Enlistment Period for Campers has Ended!

Thanks so much to everyone who enlisted! We have reached our maximum number of campers on Governors Island for the night of May 13th. If you are interested in doing a project as part of the Muster but are not camping, you can still enlist as a day-of participant, and gain early access to the island before the public arrives. To do this, please enlist on this website indicating that your project is for May 14th only. There are lots of enlistees in this special category.

New Recruits!

The campsite proposals are pouring in! Thank you to everyone who has submitted an enlistment form. I am moved, amused, and inspired by the diversity of interpretations and ideas generated by the Muster.

If you have not sent in a proposal but are interested in camping on Governors Island on the night of May 13th, there is still time to enlist. A final selection will be made by myself and the Public Art Fund on April 10th.

There are lots of special benefits for campers! Click on "How to Enlist" at the top of the homepage for more information.

Muster Cocktails

Please note that despite what you see printed in the Muster broadside, I will no longer be hosting Muster Cocktails at Fraunces Tavern. I apologize for any confusion or inconvenience caused due to this change of plans. Please check this Blog for upcoming announcements regarding pre-Muster activities.

Thank you.

Where is the Left Wing?

Where is the Left Wing?

In case anyone is wondering about the significance of the eagle image that you see on the Muster broadside, it represents a magificent sculpture perched atop the entrance of Fort Jay, where we will be mustering on Governors Island.

Interestingly, the eagle is missing the left wing.

However, at top and center, a Phrygian cap, symbol of liberty during the French and American Revolutions, survives!
